Who is Tall Grass Photography?
Tall Grass Photography is the alter ego of Simon Fleming.
You may know me from the Hub Photo Shop as I have been a part of it for the better part of the last 15 years, the last 5 as co-owner.
I have had a passion for photography from a fairly young age - I grew up constantly being inspired by beautiful and thought provoking images. I received my first ‘serious’ camera - a 35mm Praktica SLR with a couple of lenses around age 10 and have never looked back. Since those early years I have attended a handful of courses in my spare time, read a lot of books, made plenty of mistakes and accumulated most of my skills 'on the job' - I'm on a never ending journey to learn more, be inspired & to hopefully pass on some of my own inspiration along the way. I have been involved in the photographic industry, retail & professional, one way or another for the last 20 years.
A few major sources of inspiration & learning for me in recent years have come from Joe McNally, Chase Jarvis and Moose Peterson - I highly recommend checking out their sites & blogs.
My time currently is fairly much consumed within the Hub Photo Shop working with other photographers editing, artworking and printing their images. I get to deal & work with a broad range of people who shoot everything from general 'happy snaps' through to professional work such as weddings, fashion & commercial assignments.
Amongst other things, I have photographed plenty of weddings, lots of formal portraits - studio & location, as well as a good range of everything else a photographer tends to wind up doing at some point. To be perfectly honest I love all forms of photography - as long as have a camera in my hand I'm a happy man. These days, given half a chance I’m off pursuing one of my true passions which is photographing landscapes. The Australian landscape seems to be etched into my soul - I will never get enough of it, and this beautiful country will never cease to amaze and inspire me. I hope through my photography to convey those feelings to you.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my images. |
